“I have learnt so much about opera today from the three excellent speakers, the singing was sublime and I enjoyed meeting some lovely people.” Miss M, Chelsea.
"A great networking opportunity for everyone involved".
Divas & Scholars offer carefully planned intensive opera appreciation courses, History of Opera Evenings and Opera Study Days. We will immerse you in different aspects of the powerful and passionate art form, Opera. Whether you are new to the genre or are already a connoisseur, there will be fascinating insights and performances to enjoy. Eminent lecturers from the opera houses, conservatoires and broadcasting will inform and entertain you with all you need to know about the music and the social and performance history. This is an opportunity to study the world of opera with in-depth lectures illustrated by live recitals given by both emerging opera singers and established stars.
Composers and librettists will be studied in their historical and sociological contexts. The great emblematic operas will be analysed by musicologists. Opera directors and senior repetiteurs discuss the historic and contemporary approaches to the staging of the operas. During masterclasses international opera stars such as Lynne Dawson, Nelly Miricioiu and Rosalind Plowright have worked with young opera singers highlighting the training of the operatic voice, performance approaches and vocal technique. Each Study Day takes a fresh approach with different specialists.
We also offer bespoke opera events and have arranged ‘Opera Parties’ and ‘Home Recitals’ for special occasions.
